Regional Coordination Agencies
The National Survey project involves engagement of 12 agencies as Regional Coordination Agencies (RCAs) for management and supervision of survey activities at the regional level. The task has been assigned to the 12 Regional Resource and Training Centres (RRTCs) of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) as they have presence in the assigned regions, in-depth knowledge of the terrain, culture and drug use pattern in the regions and experience of working with the drug using populations in different parts of the country.
Roles and Responsibilities of Regional Coordination Agencies
The RCAs are responsible for:
- Participate in state level advocacy and sensitization meetings organized by the State Governments.
- Plan state-level trainings for the entire region with inputs from Regional Medical Institutes and assist the training agency in organization of these trainings in collaboration with State Govt.
- Supporting the State Implementation Agencies (SIAs) in planning and execution of survey activities in the assigned states and provide on-site support in case of problems
- Monitoring and supervising work of SIAs in collaboration with the concerned state govt. and RTAs.
- Support SIAs in selection of multiplier and interview sites for RDS survey and collection of multiplier data.
- Preparing progress reports and submitting them to MSJE / NDDTC
