Geographical Scope

  • NDUS is a nationwide survey and is being implemented as a combination of multiple, state specific surveys in the entire country.
  • The data collection activities of NDUS will be carried out in all 29 states and 7 Union Territories of the country and the survey will provide estimates of prevalence of substance use and substance use disorders for each state/UT and also the country as a whole.
  • In each state/UT, about 25% of the districts will be chosen for data collection, ensuring representativeness and the data collected from these districts will be extrapolated using standard statistical methods to generate estimates for the entire state/UT.
